Roy Fontaine, whose real name was Archie Hall, killed five people. He asked me to write his life story - then threatened to kill me too.

He was a bisexual butler to the aristocracy. He took their jewels, and then he took their lives.

He was also the lover of Lord Mountbatten, Prince Charles' uncle.

The Butler Did It is a memoir telling the story of Fontaine's life, and how it intersected scarily with mine.

Unlike most True Crime books it is full of a kind of gallows humour. It's In Cold Blood with laughs.
