Welcome to my website. I am a Scots-born writer now living and working in Hollywood. It's been a thrilling ride from Caledonia to California. On this site I hope to share the adventure with you. I wrote and co-produced the movie EVELYN starring Pierce Brosnan. Previously I had written films for British television, such as BROTHER CADFAEL with Sir Derek Jacobi, who plays a monk seeking redemption by wrestling with spiritual truth. I also wrote the first draft of NACHO LIBRE, in which Jack Black plays a monk seeking redemption by wrestling with Mexican midgets. Welcome to Hollywood.

The Pender family on holiday on the Isle of Bute, Scotland, during childhood's eternal summer. I'm with my mother Isabella, my sister Anne and kid brother Allan. We're still close. The local photographer patrolled the esplanade and called his work "Butey Snaps".  Butey snaps were in black and white, but life was in glorious living technicolor.
